What Can We Learn from a Sloth Mother’s Love?
The inspiration for this card came from a moment that truly touched my heart. One day, while scrolling through videos from The Dodo, I came across the most beautiful clip of a sloth and her baby. What moved me the most was not only their gentle bond, but how they would visit a kind man in the area who cared for them, allowing him to interact with them in such a trusting and peaceful way.
Sloths are native to my home country, Venezuela, and they remind me so much of the koalas here in Australia. In both places, people feel a deep love and responsibility toward these animals. Whenever we encounter them, there is always a shared instinct to protect, respect, and care for them.
To me, sloths are a beautiful symbol of motherhood. They remind us to slow down, to be present, and to cherish every moment with our children.
For the message inside the card, I chose the poem “God’s Masterpiece Is Mother” by Herbert Farnham, which reflects the quiet strength, love, and beauty of mothers. The poem speaks of how a mother is created from the most wonderful elements of nature, making her truly one of life’s greatest masterpieces .
